MONTEVALLO, Ala. – Montevallo men's basketball duo
Derek Moore and
Brandon Fussell have been named Div. II Conference Commissioners Association All-South Region after leading Montevallo to its second-consecutive NCAA Tournament.

Moore tallied a First Team All-Region nod after winning the Gulf South Conference's Player of the Year Award and earning a First Team All-Conference selection. The senior forward has posted an average of 18.1 points per game to rank fourth in the GSC while shooting a league-high 61.5-percent from the floor. Moore added an average of 6.9 rebounds per game to rank seventh among conference leaders while also recording 2.4 assists in his 27 appearances. The Birmingham, Ala. native set the Montevallo single-game record with a 51-point performance against West Florida on Jan. 17 while tying the Falcons' top mark with 20 made free throws in the same outing.
Brandon Fussell was named Second Team All-South Region after garnering a First Team All-GSC honor. The Guntersville, Ala. native ranked sixth in the GSC with 17.0 points per game on a 44.4-percent shooting mark while shooting 36.7 percent from deep for the sixth-highest mark in the league. The junior guard led the GSC with an average of 2.1 steals per game while ranking third among conference leaders with an average of 5.3 assists. Fussell finished one shy of the UM record with eight triples in a 24-point performance to lead Montevallo to a win over Auburn Montgomery on Jan. 4.
Moore and Fussell join a contingent of four Gulf South Conference players named to the D2 CCA All-South Region teams while the two Falcon selections tie Nova Southeastern for the most by any program in the South Region.
The Montevallo duo will lead the Falcons against fourth-seeded Florida Southern on Saturday, March 14 at 6:30 p.m. for the first round of the NCAA South Region Tournament.
