BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – Simon Luigs has been named the Gulf South Conference Men's Tennis Player of the Week, the league office announced Wednesday.
Luigs delivered a perfect performance on the court, posting a combined 4-0 record across singles and doubles competition. He opened the weekend with a hard-fought 1-6, 6-0, 10-3 victory over Tennessee Southern's Lucca Roveda at the No. 3 singles position. In doubles play, Luigs teamed with Guilherme Gracioli to secure a 7-5 win over Luis Cupertino and Ayden Kousis, helping propel the Falcons to a 4-3 victory over the NAIA No. 23 Firehawks.
The Hamburg, Germany native continued his strong showing against Spring Hill on Saturday. Luigs and Gracioli earned a 6-4 win over Luke Tucker and Will Huckell in doubles action before Luigs capped the day with a dominant 6-1, 6-0 win over Cristobal Rios at the No. 6 singles spot.
Luigs and Gracioli are currently ranked No. 49 in the ITA doubles rankings.

Luigs and his teammates return to the UM Tennis Court Complex on Saturday for a 10:00 a.m. match against Mississippi College.
