Falcons Set for Road Trip to Ranked Maryville

MONTEVALLO, Ala. – Montevallo men's lacrosse is set to travel to St. Louis, Mo. on Saturday, March 21 for a meeting with No. 7 Maryville at 11 a.m.

Montevallo heads into the weekend with a 4-6 overall record after opening the season with a 21-6 win over Emmanuel on Jan. 30 before falling to Embry-Riddle and Saint Leo in back-to-back road games. Montevallo then picked up a 12-10 win over No. 20 North Greenville on Feb. 14 before topping Mars Hill, 18-10, on Feb. 18 for the Falcons home opener. Montevallo then fell in consecutive home games against Belmont Abbey and No. 6 Anderson on Feb. 28 and March 7. The Falcons went on the road to No. 4 Tampa for an 18-7 loss before falling to Palm Beach Atlantic, 11-9, on March 15.
 
The Falcons average 11.90 goals per game on an average of 42.7 shots per game while adding 7.60 assists for 19.50 points per game. Montevallo has tallied 38.60 ground balls per game while posting a .820 clearing percentage while posting a .520 faceoff win percentage. Defensively, Montevallo allows 12.30 goals per game while forcing and average of 21.9 turnovers per game on an average of 12.70 caused turnovers alongside a 17.50 saves per game.
 
Matthew Boas leads Montevallo with 48 points on the season with a team-high 28 goals while adding 20 assists to go alongside 15 ground balls and four caused turnovers. Lucas Mullen ranks second on the team with 40 points on 20 goals and 20 assists while also posted 15 ground balls and four caused turnovers. Collin Schuster leads Montevallo defenders with 16 caused turnovers while adding 19 ground balls. Brandon Shaffner has posted a .618 faceoff win percentage while adding 56 ground balls. In the net, Alex Egorshin allows 11.94 goals per game on a .604 save percentage with an average of 17.1 saves per game.
 
Maryville enters the weekend with a 5-2 overall record after opening the season with a 12-3 win over Davenport on Feb. 7 before topping Thomas More, 27-2, on Feb. 14. The Saints capped a three-game streak to start the season with a 17-7 win over Alabama Huntsville before falling to No. 2 Tampa on Feb. 28. Maryville picked up a 15-12 win over Westminster on March 7 before taking a 12-11 overtime win over No. 15 Saint Leo on March 14. Most recently, Maryville fell to No. 19 Rollins, 11-9, on March 16.
 
Maryville's attack averages 13.57 goals per game on an average of 49.4 shots per game while posting 8.86 assists for 22.43 points per game. The Saints have posting an average of 38.29 ground balls per game while posting a .850 clearing percentage to pair with a .618 faceoff win percentage. Defensively, Maryville averages 8.57 goals against per game while averaging 8.86 saves per game for a .552 save percentage. The Saints force 20.7 turnovers per game on an average of 10.57 caused turnovers.
 
Wyatt Robertson leads the team with 26 points on 25 goals and one assists while adding 23 ground balls and a pair of caused turnovers. Flint Thielen leads the squad with eight assists while adding three goals for 11 points on the season. Zach Johnson leads the defense with 13 caused turnovers while adding 16 ground balls on the season. Shea Raeburn has posted a .695 faceoff win percentage with go along with a team-high 37 ground balls. In goal, Evan Alfano leads the team with 53 saves on the season with just 8.90 goals allowed for a .477 save percentage.
