MONTEVALLO, Ala. – The No. 20 Montevallo softball team earned a 6-0 victory over the Lee Lady Flames in the series opener on Friday.
Taylor Lloyd had a strong outing in the circle, pitching a one-hit shutout. The senior earned her 19th win and 17th complete game of the season.
Taylor Rogers got things started for the Falcons in the bottom of the first with a leadoff single. A successful double steal would bring home Rogers, giving the Falcons an early 1-0 advantage.
The Falcons looked to add to its lead in the bottom of the third, as Lillie Piersol walked, and Rogers and Emma Hawkins earned back-to-back singles to load the bases. Ariana Pinder hit a sac-fly to score Piersol and Becca Benton reached on an error to score Rogers, putting the Falcons ahead 3-0. Bentlee Stiner added a three-run home run later in the inning to extend the Montevallo lead to 6-0.
Lloyd held the Lady Flames scoreless through the remainder of the contest to preserve the Montevallo, 6-0, victory.
