MONTEVALLO, Ala. – The No. 20 Montevallo softball team earned a pair of wins over Lee on Saturday, securing UM's second consecutive sweep and fifth-straight series win.
GAME ONE
Kinsley Byrd had a solid outing in the circle in game one, allowing one run on two hits in four innings of work to pick up her sixth win of the season. Mya Young recorded the final three outs to close the game.
Montevallo looked to strike first, as Taylor Rogers opened the game with a leadoff single in the bottom of the first inning. Emma Hawkins reached on an error which scored Rogers to put the Falcons in front. Makayla Peters hit an RBI-double later in the inning to score Hawkins, putting the Falcons ahead 2-0.
Montevallo continued to push in the bottom of the second, as Rogers hit an RBI-single to score Riley Tyree. Kiera Olson scored on a successful double-steal to stretch the lead to 4-0. Ariana Pinder, Becca Benton, and Makayla Peters recorded RBIs in the inning to extend the Montevallo lead to 7-0.
The Lady Flames got on the board in the top of the third, as an RBI-double scored Lee's first run of the series. Montevallo responded in the bottom half of the inning, as Riley Tyree doubled and ultimately scored after a pair of errors to extend the Falcon advantage to 8-1.
The Falcons continued to put runs on the board, as Bentlee Stiner hit a two-run double to score Peyton Hull and Hawkins, extending the Montevallo lead to 10-1.
Young entered the circle in the top of the fifth and secured the final three outs to secure the Montevallo, 10-1, run-rule victory in five innings.

GAME TWO
Taylor Lloyd blanked the Lady Flames for the second time this weekend to earn her 20th win and 18th complete game of the season. The senior recorded 11 strikeouts in seven innings of work.
The Lady Flames threatened early, putting a pair of runners in scoring position with one out in the top of the second inning. Lloyd responded with back-to-back strikeouts to end the inning, keeping Lee off the board.
Pitching and defense dominated through the next few innings, as both teams remained scoreless heading into the sixth inning. The Falcons looked to strike in the bottom half of the inning, as Becca Benton reached on a fielder's choice and Makayla Peters doubled to put a pair of Falcons in scoring position with two outs. Bentlee Stiner provided a clutch two-run double to give the Falcons a 2-0 edge.
The Lady Flames looked to rally in the top of the seventh, opening the inning with back-to-back hits to put runners on the corners with no outs. Lloyd responded with back-to-back strikeouts and induced a groundout to secure the Montevallo, 2-0, victory in the series finale.
