MONTEVALLO, Ala. – The No. 17 Montevallo softball team fell to Christian Brothers, 3-0, in the series opener on Friday evening.
Taylor Lloyd earned the start in the circle and pitched her 20th complete game of the season.
CBU struck early, plating a run in the top of the first inning.
The Buccaneers added a pair of runs in the top of the fourth, stretching the lead to 3-0. Montevallo recorded its first base runner in the bottom half of the inning, as Emma Hawkins reached on an error.
Riley Tyree earned the first hit in the bottom of the fifth, but the Falcons were unable to capitalize.
The Falcons threatened in the bottom of the sixth, as Emma Hawkins walked, and Ariana Pinder doubled to put a pair of runners in scoring position. A popout would end the inning, keeping the Falcons off the board.
Montevallo went down in order in the bottom of the seventh, as CBU took home the 3-0 victory.
