MONTEVALLO, Ala. – The No. 17 Montevallo softball team picked up a pair of identical 3-0 wins over Christian Brothers to secure its seventh consecutive Gulf South Conference victory.
GAME ONE
Kinsley Byrd had a strong day in the circle, tossing a complete-game shutout to earn her ninth win of the season. The sophomore allowed five hits and struck out five in seven innings of work.
After a quiet first three innings, Montevallo threatened in the bottom of the fourth, as Becca Benton singled, while Ariana Pinder and Makayla Peters earned free passes to load the bases. Bentlee Stiner provided a huge two-run single to score Pinder and Benton, giving the Falcons a 2-0 advantage. Peters later scored on a wild pitch to stretch the Montevallo lead to 3-0.
The Buccaneers threatened in the top of the sixth, putting a pair of runners on with no outs. The Falcons held strong, as Benton turned a double play and Byrd recorded a strikeout to keep CBU off the board.
The Buccaneers hit a one-out single in the top of the seventh, but the Falcon defense turned its third double play of the game to secure the Montevallo, 3-0, victory.

GAME TWO
Taylor Lloyd was solid in the circle, tossing the second consecutive complete game shutout of the day for Montevallo. The senior allowed two hits and struck out four, as she picked up her 22nd win of the season.
Montevallo struck first once again, as Bentlee Stiner hit her eighth home run of the season in the bottom of the second inning to give the Falcons a 2-0 advantage.
After a few quiet innings, the Falcons looked to add insurance in the bottom of the sixth with Taylor Rogers hitting a one-out single. Rogers ultimately stole a pair of bases and scored an error to stretch the Montevallo lead to 3-0.
Lloyd sat the Buccaneers down in order in the top of the seventh to secure the Montevallo, 3-0, win and overall series victory.
