Men's Lacrosse Hosts UAH in PBC Semifinal

MONTEVALLO, Ala. – After clinching the 2026 Peach Belt Conference regular season title and the No. 1 seed in the PBC Tournament, Montevallo men's lacrosse is set to host fourth-seeded UAH at 4 p.m. on Friday afternoon in the first of two semifinal games.

Montevallo closed the regular season with an 8-7 overall record and a 4-0 mark in PBC action after topping Emmanuel, 21-6, to open the season. The Falcons then fell in back-to-back outings in Florida to RV Embry-Riddle and No. 19 Saint Leo before closing a four-game road trip with a 12-8 win over No. 20 North Greenville on Feb. 14. UM's home opener saw the Falcons take an 18-10 win over Mars Hill on Feb. 18 before hosting RV Belmont Abbey in an 8-7 loss. Montevallo dropped a matchup with No. 6 Anderson, 22-16, on Feb. 28 before taking a 15-5 win over Young Harris at home on March 7. Montevallo's second top-10 matchup saw the Falcons fall to No. 4 Tampa before dropping a neutral site meeting with Palm Beach Atlantic, 11-9, on March 15. The Falcons closed the nonconference schedule with a 9-8 loss to No. 7 Maryville on March 21. Montevallo opened PBC action with a 22-2 win over Virginia State at home before heading out on the road for a 24-10 win over UAH on April 4. The Falcons added another win over a ranked program with a 15-14 win over No. 18 Flagler on April 11 before securing the regular season championship with a 20-13 win over Lander on April 18.
 
The Falcons' attack leads the PBC with an average of 22.07 points per game on a 13.87 goals per game average while adding a league-best 8.20 assists per game. Montevallo offense also tallies a shot percentage of .324 on the season while adding 40.93 ground balls per game. Montevallo's faceoff corps has posted a .549 win percentage while the Falcons add a .810 clearing mark on the season. Defensively, Montevallo allows just 11.40 goals per game on a 16.80 saves per game average alongside a 12.40 caused turnovers average.
 
PBC Attackman of the Year Matthew Boas leads Montevallo and the league with 70 points on 47 goals and 23 assists while adding five man-up goals, 26 ground balls and six caused turnovers. First Team All-PBC member Lucas Mullen ranks second on the team with 60 points on 36 goals and 24 assists while posting three game-winning goals and 20 ground balls. Second Team All-PBC selection Collin Schuster highlights UM's defenders with 29 caused turnovers while adding 31 ground balls and three points on three assists. Brandon Shaffner, a First-Team All-PBC member, has posted a .643 faceoff win percentage while posting a total of 87 ground balls. PBC Goalkeeper of the Year Alex Egorshin allows just 11.57 goals per game on a .609 save percentage with a total of 243 saves.
 
The Chargers head into the semifinals with a 5-13 overall record and a 1-3 mark in PBC action after opening the season with a 8-7 overtime win over Lees-McRae. UAH then fell in back-to-back meetings at Saint Leo and Embry-Riddle on Feb. 6 and 8, respectively. The Chargers then dropped a matchup with Concordia Irvine on Feb. 13 before taking a 16-9 win over Dominican on Feb. 15. UAH lost to Maryville, 17-7, on Feb. 21 before topping Quincy, 13-9, on Feb. 23. UAH started a six-game skid with a 10-7 loss against Palm Beach Atlantic before falling to Indianapolis, 19-8, on March 7. The Chargers then fell in back-to-back road meetings with Belmont Abbey and Catawba before opening conference action with a 14-5 loss against Flagler on March 21. The Chargers dropped a meeting with Lincoln Memorial on March 28 before falling to the Falcons, 24-10, on April 4. After a 13-10 loss to Tusculum on the road, UAH fell to Lander 17-7 on April 11. To close the regular season, the Chargers topped Virginia State, 24-5 on the road before taking a 23-5 win over the Trojans on April 21 in the first round of the PBC Tournament.
 
UAH's attack has tallied an average of 14.78 points per game on 10.28 goals and 4.50 assists. The Chargers have also posted a .248 shot percentage while adding a .486 faceoff win percentage. At the dot, UAH has recorded a .489 faceoff win percentage while adding 35.44 ground balls per game and a .784 clearing mark. Defensively, UAH allows 14.06 goals per game on an average of 11.67 saves per game to go along with 8.61 caused turnovers per game.
 
Individually, Aydan Weiszhar leads the team with 29 goals while adding seven assists for 36 points to pair with five man-up goals and 18 ground balls. Chris Aiello leads the team with 41 points on 19 goals and 22 assists while adding 20 ground balls and five caused turnovers. Defensively, Will Bond leads the team with 20 caused turnovers while adding 33 ground balls while Brenden Thomas leads the team with a total of 141 faceoff wins for a .511 win percentage while adding a team-high 59 ground balls.
