Falcons Hit the Road for GSC Matchups at Delta State, Lee

MONTEVALLO, Ala. – The Montevallo women's and men's tennis teams return to action this weekend with a pair of GSC matchups. The Falcons open play on Friday at Delta State at 1:00 p.m. before wrapping up the road trip Sunday against Lee in Cleveland, Tenn., at 12:00 p.m.

Both squads will look to bounce back after dropping their last two matches to top-20 opponents. On the women's side, Klara Podskubkova remains ranked No. 72 in the latest ITA singles rankings. For the men, the doubles teams of Simon Luigs/Guilherme Gracioli and Christian Bacher/Leonidas Lazarides are ranked No. 36 and No. 49, respectively.

Delta State's women enter Friday's contest with a 10-7 overall record and a 1-5 mark in GSC play. The Lady Statesmen had a three-match winning streak snapped earlier this week with a 4-0 loss to Division I Jackson State. Anastasiia Iakovlieva leads the team with a 9-2 record at No. 4 singles, while Amelia Ciesielczyk holds a 7-6 mark as the primary No. 1. In doubles, Iakovlieva and Yasmina Mayer pace the lineup with a 6-2 record at the No. 2 position.

On the men's side, Delta State sits at 9-9 overall and 1-5 in conference play. The Statesmen have won three of their last four matches, including a 4-2 victory over Jackson State. Juan Diego Alzate and Marti Castillo Cerda lead the team with 10 singles wins each, while Alzate and Joaquin Jarochevsky anchor doubles play with a 6-3 record.

Lee's women enter the weekend at 7-5 overall (2-4 GSC) following a 7-0 loss to No. 5 West Alabama. Rima Yoshida leads the squad with a No. 24 national singles ranking, while Andrea Pascual is ranked No. 66. The duo also ranks No. 50 nationally in doubles.

The Lee men's team comes in ranked No. 12 nationally with a 10-1 overall record and a 5-1 mark in GSC play. The Flames have won five straight matches, including three against ranked opponents. Filipe Krohn Da Silva (No. 13) and Quinn Groenendijk (No. 32) headline the singles lineup, while Lee has been dominant in doubles with a 45-15 overall record.
