MONTEVALLO, Ala. – The No. 22 Montevallo softball dropped a tight, 4-3, battle against No. 14 West Florida to open the weekend series on Friday.
Bentlee Stiner become Montevallo's all-time career RBI leader, after recording her 116th career RBI against the Argos in Friday's contest.
Taylor Lloyd earned the start in the circle and pitched her 23rd complete game.
Montevallo struck first in the bottom of the second inning, as Makayla Peters singled and Bentlee Stiner brought her home with an RBI-triple. Kiley Christopher reached on an error that scored Stiner and Taylor Rogers added an RBI-single to score Christopher, putting the Falcons ahead 3-0.
The Argos responded in the top of the third with three runs to tie the game, 3-3. West Florida added another run in the top of the sixth to take its first lead of the game.
The Argos kept the Falcons off the base paths in final two innings, securing the 4-3 victory in the series opener.
