Falcons Sign Eight for 2008

MONTEVALLO (5/23) -- The University of Montevallo Men's Soccer Team has signed eight players to the 2008 recruiting class, it has been announced.  

Juan Lemos
, a 5-9 defender from Miami, Fla. helped lead Cypress Bay High School to four straight District 16A titles. He was named First Team All Broward County two straight years, led the team in assists his junior season and was also named team MVP. Juan played his club soccer for the highly successful Weston Fury soccer club. Lemos was also a member of the Florida ODP State team each of the last three seasons.

 Vance Curro, a 5-9 midfielder from Birmingham was team MVP, First Team All Metro member (2007 and 2008), All Metro Tournament team (2006-08),  and team captain his junior and senior seasons while leading Spain Park High school to its first ever 6A area Championship and a 2008 Alabama 6A State Semi-Finalist appearance. Vance played his club soccer for Birmingham United and was a member of the first ever US Soccer Development Academy.

 Nathaniel Foster, a  5-8 forward from Brampton, Ontario will transfer to UM from Bryant and Stratton College. Foster won the Golden Boot award while prepping at Humberview Secondary School and was also a member of the Dixie 89ers club while playing for coach Kerry Baroutoglou.

Austin McIntosh, a 6-1 defender from Sheffield, England will transfer to UM from Bellevue University in Nebraska. He helped lead Bellevue to a conference championship and then on to the regional finals. Also, he helped lead his All Saint Catholic High school team to the Sheffield Schools Championship in 2004.

Riley Camp, a 5-9 midfielder from Hoover was an Second Team All Metro team midfielder (2007-08), team captain (2007-08), and a member of the Alabama State All-Star team in 2007 while attending Hoover High School. Riley played his club soccer for the Vestavia Hills Soccer Club.

David Esser, a 5-7 goalkeeper from Birmingham, will transfer to UM from Ohio Northern University. He was an All-State and All-Metro team member in 2007 while leading Oak Mountain High school to the Alabama 6A State Championships in 2005 and 2007. David was a member of Vestavia Soccer club and Valley Futbol Club earning state championships three times at the club level.

 Phillip Jackson, a 5-11 midfielder from Gainsborough, England helped lead his Grimsby town youth club to Midland Floodlit Cup U-18 youth Cup, North East counties premier league champion and league cup winners least season. He was also a standout midfielder at Queen Elizabeth's High school.

Stephen Beatty, a 5-11 midfielder from Mandeville, Louisiana led his Saint Paul's High School team to the 2006 and 2007 state finals, was an All-Metro player and Honorable Mention All-District in 2006 and 2007, and Second Team All-District in 2008. He played his club soccer with the New Orleans Soccer Academy and in 2005, where they were Regional Premier League Champions and Regional Championship quarter finalists. Stephen was a member of the Louisiana ODP state team from 2002-2007.

 "This is another very strong recruiting class," head coach Ryan Pratt said. "I am very excited to have each of these players joining our program."

UM concluded the season at the national semi finals of the 2007 NCAA Division II Men's Soccer National Championships, posting a school record 18 victories to finish at 18-4-2 overall.
