FLORENCE, Ala. – The University of Montevallo softball team was unable to get a victory in a doubleheader against the University of North Alabama Lions.
The Lions are currently ranked 21st in the country and have a record of 21-4 on the season.
Montevallo dropped the first game 13-0.
Jana Kelbie Armstrong (3-4) suffered the loss in the game.
Lexes Wilson and Hannah McCreless each had doubles for UM in the contest.
In the second game, the Falcons gave the nationally ranked Lions all they could handle, but ultimately fell, 3-2.
Jostlyn Higgerson was in the circle for Montevallo, allowing just three earned runs to the vaunted UNA lineup.
The Falcons were able to put six base-hits on the board, scoring a pair of runs.
Celestia Davila had the lone RBI for Montevallo and had a hit. Wilson, McCreless, Sydney Abounassar, Shelby Lopez, and Sydney Aguilar also had base knocks for UM.
Kelsey Vining and Rachael Conley scored the two runs for Montevallo. For Vining, it was her 31st run scored on the season, which is the most on the team.
Montevallo (15-20) returns to conference play this weekend, hosting UNC Pembroke on Saturday, March 21. First pitch of the first game is scheduled for 11:00 a.m.
