HOW IT HAPPENED

Game 1

The Falcons gave up the game's first run in the opening inning but knotted it back up in the bottom half of the first.  A throwing error by the Warhawks allowed Kelsey Vining to reach home from third base to tie the game at 1-1.

The Warhawks put up six runs in the next two innings to jump out to a 7-1 advantage, scoring three runs in the second and third innings.

The Falcons came back in the bottom half of the third inning with a pair of runs to cut the lead to 7-3.  Facing two outs the Falcons started to rally.  It started with Vining who hit a solo homerun over the left field wall.  Shelby Lopez scored the other run of the inning when Dylan Bailey doubled into right centerfield.

The Warhawks pushed their lead to 8-3 in the sixth off of a sacrifice fly.

In the bottom of the seventh the Falcons started to rally back. With runners on second and third a passed ball moved the runners to score Lady Sarah Federico and cut the Warhawks lead to 8-4.  With two outs Vining came to the plate and singled through the left side to bring in Lexes Wilson to make the score 8-5.  The Falcons' rally was cut short as Kelsey Vining was caught stealing second base on the play.

Game 2

In the second game of the night, the Falcons struggled from the circle giving up nine runs in the first three innings of the game.  The Falcons surrendered five runs in the first inning and three in the second before slowing down the Trojan offensive assault to only allow two more runs for the rest of the game. 

The Falcons were unable to produce anything offensively until the fifth inning when the Falcons scored two runs.  Montevallo's two runs came when Vining doubled into centerfield to score Kaytee Keefe.  Vining was plated on the next batter when Lopez doubled to left field.

The Trojans sealed the 10-2 victory on a popup to end the game.

STAT OF THE GAME

Vining went 2-for-4 in game one and scored two runs while recording two RBI and a homerun.  In game two she went 2-3 with an RBI.

UP NEXT

The Falcons will play only one game tomorrow in day two of the Falcons Frenzy.  Montevallo will take the field against Simon Fraser at 9:00 am.  This will be the third time the Falcons have faced the Clan this season.
