HOW IT HAPPENED
The Falcons gave up the first run of the game in the first inning off of a two out RBI single up the middle. Montevallo surrendered three additional runs in the third inning to give the Greyhounds a 4-0 lead.
Montevallo scored in the bottom of the fourth inning to cut the lead to three runs. Kelsey Vining started the inning with a leadoff single and then stole second to move into scoring position. Vining was plated later in the inning to score the Falcons' only run of the game as Montevallo trailed 4-1.
A big four run fifth inning helped the Greyhounds put the game out of reach and then scored again in the seventh inning to push the lead to 9-1.
In game two of the doubleheader the Falcons got behind early as the Greyhounds put up four runs in the first inning to lead 4-0.
Montevallo answered back with a run of their own in the bottom half of the inning. Lady Sarah Federico hit an RBI double to score Shelby Lopez and the Falcons trailed the Greyhounds 4-1.
The Greyhounds' bats stayed hot as they put up eight unanswered runs. Three runs came in the second inning and then scored five more in the top of the fifth inning to lead Montevallo 12-1.
Montevallo scored one more run in the bottom half of the inning when Lopez launched a solo shot to left center field to add to the Falcons' run total.
The Greyhounds closed out the inning to end the game in five innings with the 12-2 victory.
STAT OF THE DAY
Lopez was a combined 4-for-7 from the plate in today's doubleheader. She scored the Falcons' only runs in game two.

The Falcons now take an extended break as they prepare for their Peach Belt Conference opener on Feb. 27th when they take on Flagler at Orr Park.
