HOW IT HAPPENED
Game 1
The Falcons jumped out on the Golden Bears in the first inning scoring two runs. Kelsey Vining got the inning going for Montevallo as she was able to work the pitcher to lead off with a walk. Celestia Davila advanced Vining to second base on a single to left field and Dylan Bailey advanced the runners on a sacrifice fly. Vining scored on the next play off of another sacrifice fly, this time from Greer Hancock. Davila scored the last run of the inning when Rachael Conley doubled into left field.
Miles responded with a run of their own in the bottom of the first inning, scoring a runner on a sacrifice fly to cut the Falcons lead to 2-1.
The Falcons defense held Miles scoreless the rest of the game as pitcher Jostlyn Higgerson struck out eight batters and only allowed three hits over seven innings.
Montevallo scored five more runs to close out the game one victory. The Falcons scored insurance runs in the fourth, fifth, and seventh innings.
Sydney Abounassar homered in the fourth inning for the Falcons. Shelby Lopez, Vining, Jana Kelbie Armstrong, and Conley all scored for the Falcons.
Game 2
The Falcons started game two on a roll by scoring in the game's first two innings. Vining scored the first run of the game off of a Bailey single into centerfield to give Montevallo a 1-0 lead.
In the second inning Montevallo scored two more runs to take a 3-0 lead over Lee. Vining drove in Shelby Clark on a misplayed ball to the right fielder and then was plated on the next play by Davila's double to centerfield.
Lee scored two runs in the third inning to pull the lead to within one run. The Flames used a big fourth inning to take a 7-3 lead over the Falcons as they scored five additional runs.
The Falcons rallied late in the sixth inning, scoring two runs to close the Flames lead to 7-5. However, Montevallo was unable to continue the rally in the seventh inning as Lee closed out the game for the win.
