HOW IT HAPPENED

  • In game one the Falcons gave up a run to the Bearcats in the top of the first inning but responded with a run of their own in the bottom half.  The run came off of a Kaitlynn Thomson single that was misplayed by the shortstop and allowed Lady Sarah Federico to score and tied the game at 1-1.
  • Lander scored two more runs to take a 3-1 lead over the Falcons.  The Bearcats scored a run in the second inning and then another run was plated in the third inning.
  • Montevallo came back with a pair of runs to tie the game at 3-3 in the bottom of the third inning.  Thomson got her second RBI of the game with another single that got through the left side and brought Shelby Lopez in for the score.  The other run was scored when Kayleigh Roy walked with the bases loaded and Federico came home for the second time in game one.
  • The Bearcats scored the go ahead run in the sixth inning to take a 4-3 lead.  The Falcons were unable to respond, stranding the tying run in the sixth inning and going 1-2-3 in the seventh.
  • In game two the Falcons jumped out to an early 5-0 lead in the bottom of the first inning.  With two outs Montevallo began a rally.  Kelsey Vining, Kaitlynn Thomson, and Marisa Sosa all doubled to score runs for the Falcons.  Darbi Duke was also credited with an RBI on a single that got through the right side.
  • Montevallo added two more runs in the second and two more in the third to take a 9-0 lead over Lander.   Sosa had a two RBI double in the second inning and in the third inning a fielder's choice scored Duke and a sacrifice fly brought home Celestia Davila.
  • In the fourth inning Lander began to rally back scoring a trio of runs to cut the Falcons lead to 9-3
  • The Bearcats added another run in the fifth inning to cut the Falcons lead down to 9-4.
