HOW IT HAPPENED
Game 1
- The Falcons jumped out to an early 2-0 lead in the top of the first inning. With two outs Rachel Conley knocked in a pair of runs on a two RBI single down the right field line to bring home Celestia Davila and Kelsey Vining.
- The Bobcats tied the game up at 2-2 in the bottom of the first frame with a pair of runs. Lacey Najafi brought both runs home on a single down the right field line.
- Georgia College took a 3-2 lead in the second inning with an RBI single from Caroline Snider.
- The Falcons answered back with a run of their own to knot the game up at 3-3 in the third inning. Davila led off the inning with a triple and was plated by a Shelby Clark single into centerfield.
- Montevallo surrendered five runs in the bottom of the third inning as the Bobcats jumped out to an 8-3 lead. Georgia College added two more runs in the fourth inning and another in the fifth inning to end game one, 11-3.
- Jostlyn Higgerson (9-6) got the start in the circle for Montevallo. Higgerson went 2 1/3 innings and gave up six runs on seven hits.
- Jana Kelbie Armstrong entered the game in relief and allowed five runs on seven hits over two innings.
Game 2
- The Bobcats and the Falcons held each other scoreless until the bottom of the third inning when Georgia College scored the game's first run. The Bobcats' Danielle Bernstein scored on an infield single to give Georgia College a 1-0 lead.
- Georgia College plated a run in the fourth, fifth, and sixth innings to take a 4-0 lead over the Falcons.
- Jocelyn Rivera got the start in the circle for Montevallo. Rivera gave up three runs on five hits over five innings pitched and struck out three batters.
- Abbey Pratt entered in relief and threw the final inning. Pratt allowed one run on one hit in the final inning.
UP NEXT
The Falcons return home for their final home game of the regular season. Montevallo will take on USC Aiken in a doubleheader that is scheduled to begin at 3:00pm CST.
