HOW IT HAPPENED
Game 1
- The Falcons got on the board first in the top of the second inning. Kelsey Vining led off the inning with a double into right center and then was plated by Kaitlynn Thomson on a single down the right field line to take a 1-0 lead.
- The Braves responded with four runs in the third inning to take a 4-1 lead over the Falcons.
- UNC Pembroke scored two more runs in the fourth inning and three in the fifth to close out the 9-1 victory in five innings.
- Jocelyn Rivera got the start in the circle for the Falcons and pitched two innings. Rivera only allowed a single hit in her game one outing.
- Abbey Pratt (3-3) entered the game in relief and pitch 1/3 inning. Pratt gave up four runs on four hits before being replaced by Jana Kelbie Armstrong.
- Armstrong pitched the final 2 2/3 innings for Montevallo. Armstrong gave up three runs on seven hits and struck out one batter.
Game 2
- Montevallo struck first in the top of the first inning to take an early 1-0 lead. Celestia Davila scored the game's first run when she was plated by Vining.
- The Falcons added four more runs in the top of the third inning to take a 5-0 lead over the Braves. Montevallo mounted a two out rally that started with a single from Lady Sarah Federico. Federico, Vining, Shelby Lopez, and Marisa Sosa all scored in the inning for the Falcons.
- The Braves responded with a pair of runs in the bottom of the third inning to trail the Falcons 5-2.
- In the bottom of the fourth inning, the Falcons surrendered four runs as the Braves took a 6-5 lead. UNC Pembroke scored its final run in the fifth inning to seal the 7-5 game two victory.
- Rivera got the start in the circle for the Falcons and pitched three solid innings. Over three innings, Rivera struck out three batters and surrendered three runs on six hits.
- Armstrong (2-6) entered the game in relief and threw 1 1/3 innings, surrendering four runs on five hits.
- Pratt closed out the game for the Falcons and pitched the final 1 2/3 innings. Pratt struck out two batters and only allowed two hits.
