HOW IT HAPPENED
Game 1
In the first of two games on the day, the Falcons got off to a quick start and took an early 1-0 lead against Georgia College. Sebastian Samuels plated Chad Wagner for the game's first run on a single into left field.
Montevallo added to their lead in the top of the third inning with a solo homerun from Matthew Furuto that gave the Falcons a 2-0 lead.
Georgia College took a 3-2 lead in the fifth inning after scoring three runs, two of which came off a two-RBI homerun.
The Bobcats added two more runs in the bottom of the seventh inning to seal the 5-2 victory.
Kale Latorre (2-2) got the start for the Falcons in game one of the doubleheader and pitched five innings and surrendered three runs on eight hits.
Anthony Porter entered the game in relief and threw two innings and gave up two runs on two hits.
Justin Whitley entered the game to pitched the final inning in the game one loss.
Game 2
The Falcons used the first inning to jump ahead of the Bobcats in the second game of the doubleheader. A fielding error by the Bobcats allowed Daniel Pardo to give Montevallo an early 1-0 lead.
Another error in the top of the third inning allowed Wagner to reach the plate as the Falcons scored their second run of the game to lead 2-0.
In the bottom of the third inning, Georgia College got a run back to trail Montevallo 2-1.
Pardo increased the Falcons lead in the fifth inning when he drove in Wagner, making it a 3-1 ballgame.
Georgia College broke the game open in the bottom of the fifth inning when it plated 13 runs to take a 14-3 lead.
The Bobcats outscored the Falcons 3-1 in the next three innings to hold onto a 17-4 victory.
Tanner Koch (1-3) started game two on the mound for the Falcons and threw 4 1/3 innings. Koch allowed 8 runs on six hits and also struck out two batters.
Drew Mullinax entered the game in relief for Montevallo and gave up three runs on one hit.
Jake Posey and Colton Nussel also pitched in game two for the Falcons with both pitchers giving up three runs a piece.
