HOW IT HAPPENED

The Falcons and the Saints met in game two of their three-game series with Montevallo coming out on the winning end of a 7-3 decision.

Montevallo scored the game's first run in the top of the third inning when Matthew Furuto ripped a RBI single through the left side to bring Ryan Brooks home to give the Falcons a 1-0 lead.

Flagler took a 2-1 lead in the fifth inning after tying the game in the bottom of the fourth.  Igor Baez drove in both runs to give the Saints their first lead of the game.

The Falcons retook the lead in the sixth inning that they never relinquished.  Caleb Ledbetter scored Daniel Pardo on a sacrifice bunt to tie the game at 2-2.  Later in the inning, Dom DeVille scored three more runs off a home run into center field to push the Falcons lead to 5-2.

Flagler scored another run in the bottom of the sixth inning to cut the Falcons lead to two runs (5-3).

Montevallo added a pair of insurance runs, one in the eighth inning and another in the ninth inning, to hold on to a 7-3 victory over the nationally ranked Saints.

Kale Latorre (3-2) got the start for the Falcons and threw a solid 5 2/3 innings.  Latorre struck out three batters and gave up three runs on nine hits. 

Drew Mullinax entered the game in relief and threw the final out of the sixth inning and allowed just two hits.

Tanner Koch pitched 2 1/3 innings in relief and struck out one batter while only allowing two hits.

Colton Nussel closed out the game for the Falcons and threw the final two outs of the ninth inning and earned the save, his first of the season.

The Falcons and the Saints will play the rubber game of the series on Sunday, March 19th with the first pitch scheduled for 11:00 am CT.
