HOW IT HAPPENED
Montevallo rallied late in game two of the three-game series with North Georgia to earn the 4-3 victory over the nationally ranked Nighthawks.
North Georgia took a 1-0 lead in the bottom of the fourth inning and then plated a run in the sixth and one in the seventh inning to take a 3-0 lead.
After being held scoreless for the first seven frames, the Falcons finally got on the board in the top of the eighth inning. Dom DeVille singled to left field that brought Daniel Pardo around to score for Montevallo. The Falcons trailed the Nighthawks 3-1 as the game headed into the final frame.
In the top of the ninth inning, the Falcons started to rally back. After getting the bases loaded with a pair of walks and a fielding error by the Nighthawks, Montevallo cut it to a one-run ballgame when Collin Dupree scored on a wild pitch that advanced all runners. Tyler Guesnard scored the game-winning run with two outs on the board when he singled to left centerfield to clear the bases and give the Falcons a 4-3 lead.
Colton Nussel struck out two batters as he closed out the game to seal the come from behind victory over North Georgia.
Jamison Roney got the start on the mound for the Falcons and pitched seven solid innings. Roney allowed three runs on seven hits and struck out nine batters in today's outing.
Nussel entered the game in relief to throw the final two frames. In his two innings of work, Nussel struck out five batters and only allowed two hits.
