MONTEVALLO HIGHLIGHTS
Senior Kelsey Vining finished 3-for-4 at the plate with a double and drove in three runs while scoring two runs.
Sophomore Brianna Stella went 2-for-4 at the plate.
Sophomore Haley Barnette finished 1-for-4 at the plate with a homer and drove in three runs while scoring one run.
Senior Darbi Duke, sophomore Holly LaForce and freshman Carlee Mullinax also registered one hit each.
Junior Marisa Sosa, Duke and LaForce scored one run each.
Junior Amanda Ingram pitched one scoreless inning in the game.
Junior Alexis Bonanno registered two strikeouts in two scoreless innings in relief.
Junior Abbey Pratt pitched the final 2 1/3 innings and struck out two batters.
HOW IT HAPPENED
Montevallo took a 2-0 lead in the top of the first inning when senior Darbi Duke reached on an error and scored on a RBI double to left-center field by senior Kelsey Vining, who scored later in the frame on another error by the Hawks.
The Falcons pushed their lead to 4-0 in the top of the third inning when Vining reached on an infield single and scored on a two-run homer to left field by sophomore Haley Barnette.
Montevallo pushed its lead to 6-0 in the top of the fourth inning when LaForce led off with a single to right field and junior Marisa Sosa reached on a walk before scoring on a two-run double to left-center field by Vining.
The Hawks scored five runs in the bottom of the fifth inning to trim the deficit to 6-5 but couldn't plate the tying run.

Freshman Carlee Mullinax, sophomore Brianna Stella and junior Lady Sarah Federico finished with one hit each.
Sophomores Holly LaForce and Mariel Bertossi, along with freshman Bayleigh Lott, scored one run each.
Freshman Mychael McMillan allowed just one hit and struck out one in two innings as the starter.
The Falcons recorded a triple play in the bottom of the fifth inning, with Laforce, Stella and Barnette.
HOW IT HAPPENED
The Falcons took a 1-0 lead in the top of the first when sophomore Haley Barnette doubled to left field before scoring on a RBI single to right field by freshman Carlee Mullinax.
Shorter took a 2-1 lead after plating a pair of runs in the bottom of the third inning.
The Hawks added another run in the bottom of the fourth inning to push their lead to 3-1.
Montevallo tied the game at 3-3 in the top of the fifth inning after senior Darbi Duke reached on a walk and scored on a RBI triple to right field by senior Kelsey Vining, who scored later in the frame on a RBI sacrifice bunt by Barnette.
Shorter plated a run in the bottom of the fifth inning to take a 4-3 lead.
The Falcons took the lead for good in the top of the sixth inning after plating three runs, as sophomore Holly LaForce and freshman Bayleigh Lott scored on a two-run double to left field by senior Dylan Bailey and sophomore Mariel Bertossi scored on a bases-loaded walk later in the frame.
The Hawks trimmed the lead to 6-5 in the bottom of the seventh inning before junior Abbey Pratt closed the frame with a strikeout and a groundout to secure the win.
