MONTEVALLO, Ala. – University of Montevallo sophomore DaShaun Morgan cemented his spot as a qualifier for the NCAA Division II National Championship with a program-record mark of 7.55 meters in the Falcon Finale meet May 11.
Morgan claimed the individual title in the event with his record-setting mark, which puts him among the top 15 marks nationally in NCAA Division II.
Morgan's school record was one of five program records set in the final event of the season.
The Falcons' entry in the men's 4x100-meter relay also claimed the event title with a school-record mark of 41.37 meters. The relay team included freshman Mason Foster, freshman Micah Boles-White, sophomore TreMichael Jones and junior Irmon Kirt.
Kirt also set a new program record in the men's 100-meter dash with his time of 10.75 seconds and finished fifth overall in individual standings. Jones came in sixth overall in individual standings in the event with his time of 10.96 seconds, while Boles-White finished seventh overall with his time of 11.07 seconds and Foster came in eighth overall in the event with his time of 11.10 seconds.
Sophomore Morgan Daniels set a new program record in the women's 200-meter dash with her time of 24.83 seconds and finished third overall in individual standings. Freshman Epiphany Smith finished 11th overall in the event with her time of 27.26 seconds.
Daniels also set a new program record in the women's 100-meter dash with her time of 12.23 seconds and finished fourth overall in individual standings. Smith came in 10th overall in individual standings in the women's 100-meter dash with her time of 12.74 seconds.
Jones finished seventh overall in individual standings in the men's 200-meter dash with his time of 21.94 seconds. Kirt also came in eighth overall in the event with his time of 21.97 seconds, while Boles-White finished ninth overall in individual standings with his time of 22.26 seconds and Foster came in 10th overall with his time of 22.45 seconds.
Junior Joshua Jackson finished fifth overall in individual standings in the men's 400-meter dash with his time of 52.07 seconds. Jackson also finished fifth in the men's 800-meter run with his time of 2:07.39.
Freshman Eric Myrick finished third overall in individual standings in the men's hammer throw with his mark of 33.25 meters.
Myrick also fourth overall in individual standings in the men's shot put with his mark of 12.99 meters and fourth overall in individual standings in the men's discus throw with his mark of 40.75 meters.
Sophomore Henry Davison finished second overall in individual standings in the men's triple jump with his mark of 13.42 meters.
Davison also finished sixth overall in individual standings in the men's long jump with his mark of 6.04 meters.
Junior NaDarria Inge came in third overall in individual standings in the women's high jump with her mark of 1.59 meters.
Sophomore Kyle Tidwell finished third overall in individual standings in the men's pole vault with his mark of 4.00 meters.
Freshman Tanner Boothe finished seventh overall in individual standings in the men's pole vault with his mark of 47.82 meters, while Myrick came in eighth overall with his mark of 47.22 meters.
