INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. – University of Montevallo sophomore DaShaun Morgan has earned a spot in the NCAA Division II National Championship, becoming the first men's track and field student-athlete from Montevallo to qualify for the national championship.

Morgan will compete in the long jump competition at the NCAA Division II National Championship on May 23-25 at Javelina Stadium in Kingsville, Texas.

The men's long jump competition is scheduled for 6:20 p.m. on Thursday, May 23.

Morgan solidified his spot in the NCAA Division II National Championship with his attempt of 7.55 meters in the Falcon Finale competition May 11 at the Montevallo track and field complex.

Morgan first qualified with a provisional mark at the Gulf South Conference Championship with his mark of 7.50 meters.

Morgan was named the Gulf South Conference Field Athlete of the Year.
