NEW ORLEANS, La. – The United States Track & Field/Cross Country Coaches Association released its academic awards on Monday, as a trio of Falcons were named All-Academic Athletes, while both the men's and women's programs were named All-Academic Teams.
To be named an All-Academic Athlete, the individual must hold a 3.25 cumulative GPA and a top-50 national ranking in a single event (indoor or event). To receive All-Academic Team status, the program must hold a 3.00 cumulative GPA.
Christopher Johnson posted a 3.66 cumulative GPA in pursuit of an Exercise and Nutrition Science master's degree. Johnson held a top-50 outdoor national ranking in the Discus, ranking seventh with a throw of 56.43m.
Katie Wilkerson posted a 3.68 cumulative GPA in pursuit of a Biology degree. Wilkerson held a top-50 outdoor national ranking in the Javelin, ranking 30th with a throw of 44.45m.
Zak Ferguson posted a 3.66 cumulative GPA in pursuit of a Management degree. Ferguson held a top-50 indoor national ranking in Mile, ranking 40th with a time of 4:05.22.
The Falcon women posted a cumulative GPA of 3.43 to be named on the All-Academic Team list, while the men captured All-Academic Team honors with a cumulative GPA of 3.17.
