KANSAS City, Mo. – The University of Montevallo men's soccer team is ranked No.8 in the latest United Soccer Coaches South Region rankings.

The region ranking is the first for the Falcons since the 2016 season.

Montevallo is off to a 1-1-1 start to the season after a difficult opening schedule.

The Falcons opened the season with a 0-0 double overtime tie to Florida Southern, before falling to No. 1 in the South Region, Palm Beach Atlantic 1-0. Montevallo opened Gulf South Conference play this past weekend with a 4-0 win over Christian Brothers.

Montevallo is one of five GSC schools ranked in the South Region poll. The Falcons are behind West Florida, Spring Hill, and Lee. Montevallo sits ahead of West Alabama.

The Falcons will return to action on Thursday, Sept. 19th against Clayton State in Morrow, Georgia at 7 p.m.
