MONTEVALLO, Ala. — In a doubleheader originally scheduled to be played at Orr Park in Montevallo, the University of Montevallo will now travel to Mobile to play Spring Hill College.
The two teams will start play at 12 p.m. on Wednesday, Feb. 12, before playing the second game 30 minutes following the conclusion of the first.
Montevallo (4-3) is coming off a weekend where it beat the 12th-ranked University of Indianapolis Greyhounds, 10-9, at home.
QUICK HITTERS
- Haley Barnette paces the team with a .412/.824/1.369 line through seven games. Newcomer Sierra Easterwood leads the team with two home runs and six runs batted in in 18 plate appearances.
- In the circle Mychael McMillan had already accumulated 30 strikeouts over 17.1 innings pitched in four appearances. Her 30 strikeouts are six more than opposing pitchers have against the Falcons' batters.
- Mariel Bertossi, Carlee Mullinax, Caroline Pope and Brianna Stella all have a perfect 1.000 fielding percentage among Montevallo players with 10-or-more fielding opportunities. Bertossi leads the way with 56 chances and has recorded 53 putouts and three assists.
SCOUTING THE BADGERS
- Spring Hill opened the season with a six-game slate of games in the Gulf Coast Invitational Tournament in Gulf Shores, Ala. However, the Badgers' first two games — against the University of Mobile and Valdosta State — got rained out.
- Carlisle Jamison and Delaney Thomas leads Spring Hill with a .273 batting average (3-11) through four games.
- Badgers have allowed only one home run, while not hitting one themselves. Additionally, Spring Hill has driven in only five runs, while allowing 23 in four games.
