MONTEVALLO, Ala. - The Montevallo women's swim team lost to the Birmingham Southern Panthers on January 9th. It was a special day for the lady Falcons who are graduating their first seniors
Mary Lane and
Hailey Vance. Both of the girls are captains and transferred from the same community college in their home state of California. These best friends were teary eyed while walking past their teammates while hearing their sweet words of encouragement.
NOTABLES
Senior
Mary Lane set a season best of 1:07.02 in the 100 yard fly, improving about 2.1% from her last best.
Sophomore
Ashleigh Ketch also set a season best of 1:02.41 in the 100 yard freestyle.
Freshmen
Madison Burnum and Sophomore
Anisa Nelson went 3-4 in the 200 yard freestyle going 2:09.60 and 2:14.53 respectively.
Sophomore Lexi Cardwell narrowly got second in the 50 yard freestyle being inched out .16 tenths of a second going a 26.34.
In dominant fashion, Sophomore Lizabeth Candanedo continued her way in the butterfly events by winning the 100 yard butterfly with a 1:02.46.
Beating the field by almost two whole second Sophomore
Molly Hansen won the 100 yard Breaststroke with a 1:10.93 beating out fellow Sophomore
Amanda Ware who went a 1:12.59.
