Box Score 2 COLUMBUS, Ga. -- The Montevallo softball team picked up a win in their first game of the Columbus State Cougar Classic on Friday, beating Converse University 11-3 in five innings. However, the Falcons dropped a 5-2 decision to the host Cougars in the second game, keeping their record even at 3-3.

First baseman
Taylor Robinson was 3-for-4 at the plate with a double and an RBI, while scoring three runs to lead the Falcons.
Leftfielder Alisha
Lanyon added a pair of hits (2-for-3), a double, drove in a run and scored another. Shortstop
Hannah Carey doubled, walked and had a pair of RBI.
Mychael McMillan (1-0) was the winning pitcher, working all five innings, scattering seven hits and two earned runs. She also had nine strikeouts.

The Falcons scored a run in their first at-bat on the power of a solo homerun by
Sierra Easterwood, but CSU answered in the bottom of the inning with three runs to take a 3-1 lead. Easterwood homered again in the top of the 6
th inning to cut the deficit to 3-2. But, like the first inning, CSU came up with an answer, plating two more runs to provide the final tally. Easterwood had the only two hits in the game for the Falcons.
Mabry Norris (1-1) suffered her first loss of the season after surrendering three runs on three hits. She had a strikeout and walked two.
