Box Score 2 COLUMBUS, Ga. -- The Montevallo softball team earned a pair of one-run, come-from-behind wins on Saturday at the Columbus State Cougar Classic. The Falcons improved to 5-3 after winning three of four games during the Classic.

The Falcons received a great effort in the circle from pitchers
Kaitlyn Flugga and
Kaylee Hawkins.
Flugga started the game and pitched three innings while Hawkins came in the game in the fourth inning and pitched the final four innings. The pitchers combined to strike out seven and walk two. Hawkins improved to 2-1 with the win. She finished the game with five strikeouts, a walk and allowed only one hit.
Montevallo scored a run in the first on a single by
Hannah Carey, driving in
Taylor Robinson. Converse scored two runs in the second inning to go ahead 2-1. UM tied the game in the top of the third inning when Robinson walked with the bases loaded scoring Lauren
Hamby from third base. In the top of the sixth inning, left fielder Alisha
Lanyon doubled with one out One out later,
Bryana Freshour came on to pinch hit and reached on an infield single.
Lanyon advanced to third on the play and scored the go-ahead run on a throwing error by the third baseman.
The Falcons offense had seven hits by seven different hitters. Robinson and
Lanyon both had doubles in the game.

Easterwood's walk-off, 3-run blast in the bottom of the sixth inning provided the margin of victory for the Falcons in a dramatic come-from-behind win over
Coker University.
Easterwood was 4-for-4 at the plate with two
homeruns, and four RBI, while scoring three runs.
The Falcons had a 4-0 lead early after scoring two runs in each of the first two at-bats. Shortstop
Hannah Carey plated the first pair of runs with a 2-run single in the first inning. First baseman
Taylor Robinson added to the lead with an RBI double in the second inning that brought
Sydnee Pawlak home to make it 3-0.
Easterwood scored the fourth run on a ground-out by Alisha
Lanyon.
Coker roared back with three runs in the third and two more in the fourth inning to take a 5-4 lead. Then, in the bottom of the fourth inning,
Easterwood homered to tie the game at 5-5.
Coker reclaimed the lead in the top of the fifth inning on a sacrifice fly, then extended the lead to two runs on a homerun in the sixth inning, to make the score 7-5.
Designated player Olivia
Bergert struck out to lead off the bottom of the sixth inning, but reached on a wild pitch. After
Bergert was thrown out on a fielder's choice ground-out by
Kinley Adams,
Pawlak reached on an error. Eastwood then came to the plate and smashed her second homer of the game over the
centerfield fence to give the Falcons the 8-7 lead. Reliever
Mabry Norris allowed a bunt single in the seventh, but, nothing more as she went on to claim the win.
Norris came on in relief of starter
Mychael McMillan in the fourth inning. She pitched three and a third innings, allowed three earned runs on seven hits, struck out three and walked one.
In addition to
Easterwood's work on offense, Carey was 2-for-3 with a pair of RBIs.
Next up - The Falcons head south to Mobile to take on Spring Hill College in a three game series on Feb. 18 and 19.
