GREENVILLE, S.C. – University of Montevallo wrestling's
Colt Brown has been tabbed as the Conference Carolinas Freshman of the Month, as announced by the league office, Friday.
In November, the freshman from Lakeland, Florida compiled a 13-6 overall record in the 125-weight class. He earned a dual win against Midway and added his additional 12 wins in open tournament action at the Patriot Open, Georgia Open, and Life U Open.
Brown placed third in the Patriot Open and seventh in the Georgia Open in the 125 brackets.
In his first month of competition, Brown totaled eight tech fall wins and two major decision victories.
The 125-pounder currently leads the Falcons in total wins with 13 and boasts a 13-7 overall record, 1-2 dual record and has earned five dual points for UM.
The Freshman of the Month honor is the first award won by any wrestler in program history.
Brown and the Falcons will return to action on Dec. 16-17 at the UIndy Midwest Classic.
