MONTEVALLO, Ala. – Cole Hunt, Carson Freeman, and Jake Chisolm are set to compete at the NCAA Division II Wrestling National Championships this weekend in Sioux Falls, S.D. The championships will take place at the Denny Sanford PREMIER Center.
The preliminaries and first round are scheduled to begin Friday at 10:00 a.m. CT, followed by the quarterfinals and first- and second-round consolation matches at 5:00 p.m. Action continues Saturday with the semifinals and wrestlebacks at 10:00 a.m., before the national championship finals conclude the event at 7:00 p.m.
Hunt, ranked No. 9 at 125 by NWCA, will face No. 1 seed Isaiah Gamez of Adams State in his opening-round matchup. Hunt enters the national tournament with an impressive 32-2 overall record, including 17 pins this season.
Chisolm (165) will open his tournament against No. 3 seed Sam Richardson of McKendree. The Oxford, Ala., native brings a 12-7 record into the national championships and is making his second appearance on the national stage.
Freeman (157) will begin his championship run against Grand Valley State's Maclain Morency. He heads into the tournament with a 23-9 record this season.
