MONTEVALLO, Ala. – University of Montevallo women's track and field's Zauren Burton and men's track and field's Caleb Kariuki have been named Montevallo Players of the Week presented by Jack's for the week of Jan. 15.
 
Zauren Burton (Women's Track and Field)
Senior jumper Zauren Burton finished second at the Emory Crossplex Showdown this weekend in the high jump. After passing the opening height and second bar, Burton came in and cleared her first height at 1.50 meters on her first attempt. Her first attempt clearance at 1.55 was enough to push her into second place. Burton also competed in the 60m where she finished in a time of 8.47.
 
Caleb Kariuki (Men's Track and Field)
Senior jumper Caleb Kariuki opened his season this weekend at the UAB Vulcan Invitational. Kariuki finished ninth in the long jump, being the highest placing DII athlete. He jumped 6.94 meters, with all his jumps over 6.50 meters. Kariuki also competed at the Emory Crossplex Showdown, where he finished first in the triple jump with a jump of 14.11 meters.
