BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – The Gulf South Conference released its latest set of outdoor track and field weekly awards on Wednesday, as Christopher Johnson was named GSC Field Athlete of the Week for the second time this season.
The Northport, Ala., native picks up this honor after a strong outing at the Emory Spring Break Classic.
After setting a new school record in the Discus throw with a distance of 55.24m at the Falcon Classic, he followed that up by breaking that record with a throw of 56.28m this past weekend. His 56.28m discus throw ranks first overall in NCAA DII.
Johnson also competed in the Hammer Throw where he earned a top-five finish with a throw of 49.86m. Johnson's 49.86m hammer throw ranks fourth in the GSC.
