MONTEVALLO, Ala. – Montevallo Track and Field returns to action this weekend, competing at the Troy Doc Anderson Multi & Invitational on Friday and Saturday.
Montevallo last saw action two weeks ago at the Emory Spring Break Classic where the Falcons garnered eight podium finishes in Atlanta.
Katie Wilkerson led the way with two podium finishes, placing first in the Javelin (40.07m) and second in the Discus (44.04m). Cesleigh Martin (Shot Put – 12.88m) and Natania Nasieku (Triple Jump – 11.05m) also earned podium finishes on the women's side. Christopher Johnson led the way for the men earning a top finish in the Discus with a school record distance of 56.28m. Zane Weeks (Javelin – 58.10m), Jeremiah Fails (200m – 21.32), and Ethan Fox (Discus – 47.45m) also earned podium finishes on the men's side.
On the season, Montevallo has four athletes that rank first in the GSC in their respective events. Christopher Johnson ranks first in the GSC and second nationally in the Discus with his throw of 56.28m. Zak Ferguson sits at the top of the GSC in the 1500m and ranks 22nd nationally with a time of 3:48.66. Katie Wilkerson ranks first in the GSC and 38th nationally in the Discus with a throw of 44.04m. Jeremiah Fails leads the way for the GSC in the Long Jump and ranks 42nd nationally with a distance of 7.06m.
The Men's 4x400m Relay team consisting of Dwight Bellamy, Patrick Sherrill, Jeremiah Fails, and Drew Cheslock holds the top time in the GSC with a 3:15.44 which ranks 31st nationally.
