GREENWOOD, S.C. – The University of Montevallo wrestling team is ranked No. 8 in the third edition of the NCAA Division II Super Region II rankings and features three ranked wrestlers.
 
In November, the Falcons were ranked No. 10 in the second edition of the ranking. With a strong showing at the UINDY MidWest Classic and a pair of dual wins, the Falcons move up two spots, passing Coker and Limestone.
 
Redshirt Junior Gabe Hixenbaugh, 17-0, moved to No. 1 in the Super Region II rankings following his dominant performance at the MidWest Classic.
 
Freshman Derek Hussey and Aiden Knight entered the rankings this week for the first time this season. Hussey, 14-5 on the year, is ranked No. 5 at 165 while Knight, 12-9, is No. 6 in the 174-weight class.
 
The NCAA Super Region II Championships are scheduled to take place on Saturday, Mar. 2, in Greenwood, South Carolina.
 
Montevallo returns to action on Friday, Jan. 19, at 5 p.m. on the road against Reinhardt.
