Falcons Drop Match to Alabama-Huntsville

MONTEVALLO, Ala. – The University of Montevallo volleyball was defeated by Alabama-Huntsville, 0-3, on Tuesday, Oct. 15 in Central State Bank Arena.

HOW IT HAPPENED
 
Set 1
  • The Falcons were hot early as they converted three kills all assisted by Colton Thompson.
  • Up 7-6, Montevallo forced an Alabama-Huntsville timeout after five consecutive points including two errors by the Chargers, two kills by Claire Hayes and a kill by Aliyah Thompson.
  • After a kill by Aliyah Thompson and Brooklyn Hudson, UAH mounted a comeback started with three straight points.
  • The Chargers battled all the way back to tie the set at 18-18.
  • Tied 22-22, UAH took the final three out of four points to take the set.
  • Both teams had their highest hitting percentage of the match (UM: .171, UAH: .289)
  • Both teams had their highest kill total in a set (UM: 15, UAH: 15)
 
Set 2
  • After two kills by Brooklyn Hudson and Nikol Antova, the Chargers went on a 6-1 run to take the lead.
  • Down 11-7, Montevallo won the next three points with a kill from Eliza Tyrrell, an ace from Colton Thompson and an attack error by the Chargers.
  • UAH went on an 8-2 run after the short Falcon run.
  • UM threatened with a comeback as they were down 21-13. Montevallo went on a 6-2 run highlighted by kills from Antova and Danielle Greene. Blakeley Robbins picked up two assists in the run.
  • UAH finished the set off with back-to-back kills.
 
Set 3
  • Alabama-Huntsville came out in the third set and took the first four points with three blocks and a kill.
  • Montevallo tied the set up at 6-6 with an ace from Robbins and a kill by Antova.
  • UAH won the next four points with three Falcon miscues and an ace.
  • The Chargers went on an 8-0 run to extend their set lead top 23-11.
  • The Falcons fought back with five consecutive points with three Charger errors, an ace by Ava Wind and a kill by Antova.
  • The Chargers pounded down two more kills to down the Falcons.
