HOW IT HAPPENED
Set 1
- The Falcons came out and won the first three points of the match with an ace from Blakeley Robbins, a kill from Katie Wilkerson and a Choctaw error.
- Down 4-1, Mississippi College went on a 5-1 run including two kills and three UM errors.
- Two kills by Danielle Greene and a kill by Brooklyn Hudson tied the set up at 9-9. All three kills were assisted by Colton Thompson.
- After an ace by Nikol Antova to tie the set at 14-14, MC won the next five out of six points.
- Montevallo regained the lead with six consecutive points highlighted by kills from Claire Hayes, Aliyah Thompson and Katie Wilkerson. The Choctaws committed three errors in the run.
- MC took a 1-0 lead in the match by ending the first set on a 6-1 run.
Set 2
- The Choctaws opened the second set with a block to take the lead. Montevallo went on an 8-2 run including kills by Claire Hayes, Eliza Tyrrell and Maggie McColley.
- Mississippi College exploded for a 13-1 run.
- Montevallo responded with a 3-0 run.
- After each team traded 3-0 runs, MC went on to take the set by winning the last five out of six points.
- Falcons had a hitting percentage of 0.00 in the set compared to the Choctaws .216.
Set 3
- Tied 2-2, MC took a huge 11-1 run.
- The Choctaws went up 20-7 after three straight aces.
- Kills by Maggie McColley and Katie Wilkerson kept Montevallo alive but the MC attack was too much for the Falcons.
