MONTEVALLO, Ala. – The University of Montevallo volleyball has punched their ticket to the 2024 Gulf South Conference Tournament with their victory over the Auburn Montgomery Warhawks on Nov. 14, inside Central State Bank Arena.

GAME NOTES

• Katie Wilkerson led Montevallo with a career-high 15 kills and a .444 hitting percentage.
• Danielle Greene totaled seven total blocks.
• With 18 assists Blakeley Robbins led UM. Robbins added eight digs and an ace.
• Ava Wind had 16 digs and three service aces.

 
HOW IT HAPPENED
 
Set 1

• The Falcons came out of the gate hot by winning the first six out of seven points. The 6-1 run included two kills by Eliza Tyrrell, a kill by Wilkerson and aces from Robbins and Tyrrell. AUM also had an attack error.
• Maggie McColley connected with Colton Thompson for two kills, then Claire Hayes served an ace to extend the Falcon lead to 14-7.
• AUM respond with a 5-0 run including two kills, two aces and a block.
• UM took the next four out of five points with kills by Ellise Hanson, Danielle Greene and Katie Wilkerson. Greene and Wilkerson combined for a block in the run.
• AUM took the lead late with a 6-0 run to give them a 23-22 advantage.
• After a service error on the Warhawks to tie the set at 23-23, AUM won the final tow points to take the first set.

 
Set 2

• UM gained the early momentum with a 7-0 run to start the second set. In the run, the Falcons had an ace and two kills. AUM contributed four errors.
• The Warhawks won the next four out of five points.
• The Falcons went on a 6-1 run with kills by Wilkerson and Hudson. Hayes and Hudson had a block while the Warhawks had four attack errors.
• Two service errors on AUM, an ace by Morgan Netcott and kill by Wilkerson gave the Falcons a 21-14 lead.
• Montevallo closed the set out with a kill by McColley and blocks by Greene and mcColley.

 
Set 3

• A back-and-fourth set early on saw both teams tied at 12-12.
• After a kill by AUM, UM went on an 8-2 run with kills by Hayes, Hudson and Wilkerson. Kalin Duncan had an ace and two assists.
• The falcons ended the set by winning the final four out of five points with an ace by McColley and Wind and a block by Hanson and Greene.

 
Set 4

• The Warhawks started the fourth set with a 5-0 run including four Falcon errors.
• UM responded with a 5-1 run with kills by Greene and Wilkerson, an ace by Wind and a block from Hanson and Hayes.
• Montevallo gained a massive advantage with a 9-2 run including kills by Hayes, Hanson and Greene. AUM had five attack errors in the run.
• Tied at 17-17, UM won the next three out of four points to take a 20-18 lead.
• AUM won the next four consecutive points to take a 22-20 advantage.
• Montevallo closed out the Warhawks with a 5-1 run with kills by Hanson, Hudson and Tyrrell. AUM had two errors.

With the win, Montevallo has clinched a spot in the 2024 GSC Tournament. They will finish their regular season on Friday, Nov. 15 as they take on the Alabama-Huntsville Chargers in Huntsville, Ala.
