BRISTOL, Tenn. – The University of Montevallo wrestling team competed at the King Open on Sunday, Nov. 17, where the Falcons totaled 21 wins, seven falls and five tech falls across 11 different wrestlers.
Baxter Hoffman and
Colton Sullivan placed for the Falcons as they combined for nine wins.
Baxter Hoffman was the highest placing Falcon as he came away with a sixth-place finish in the 184-weight class. Hoffman started his day by defeating Thomas Karlo from the hosting King University with a fall in 6:13. He rattled off four consecutive wins with an 11-8 decision over unattached Chazz May, an 8-5 decision over Kentucky Wesleyan's Drayden McKerrow, a win over Jack Harty in an 8-1 decision and a victory by medical forfeit. Hoffman now has seven wins this season.
Colton Sullivan picked up four wins at the King Open where he earned an eighth-place finish in the 149-weight class. Sullivan earned convincing wins such as a 19-4 tech fall over Jayden Draper of Andrew College, a pin in 4:13 against Midway's Aishton Adrianza, his fastest fall of the season over Belmont Abbey's Jacob Coyle in 1:51 and a 9-6 decision over Cumberland's Anitie Akpan. Sullivan now has five wins in the 2024-25 season.

Individual Highlights
- Kaden Brown earned two wins in the 149-weight class open with a 21-5 tech fall over Nicolas Dimond and an 11-9 decision over Curtis Johnson. Brown is tied for first on the team with 11 wins and he is 3-0 in bouts ending in tech falls this season.
- Colton Sullivan went 4-2 including a four bout win streak where he won by a 19-4 tech, a fall in 4:13, a pin in 1:51 and a 9-6 decision. Sullivan placed in eighth for the 149-weight class.
- Alia Vickery picked up his first two collegiate victories in the 149-weight class with two tech falls. Vickery defeated Tyler Jones of Cumberland, 17-2, and he won over Isaiah Dotson of Emory & Henry, 22-7.
- Like Vickery, Tristan Williams picked up his first collegiate win over Dasaun Tyalor of Newberry where he pinned Taylor in 5:54.
- Cole Sykes won three bouts in the 174-weight class. Sykes earned his first win with a fall over Carter Cabrera of Cumberlands in 4:08. He pinned Tim Dunn in his next bout in 6:14. His third win came against Isaiah Dozier of Andrew College where he blanked Dozier 15-0. Sykes is tied with Kaden Brown and Carson Freeman for the team lead in wins with 11.
- Baxter Hoffman went 5-2 while he placed in sixth in the 184-weight class. Hoffman had three wins by decision (11-8, 8-5, 8-1), a fall over Thomas Karlo in 6:13 and a win by medical forfeit.
- Dalton Wainwright picked up a victory over Aiden Santos of Bluefield State in overtime. Wainwright now has three wins on the season.
- Rhett Walters earned his fastest fall of the season over Midway's Kasen Johnson in 2:14. Walters is tied for second on the team with three falls this season.
- Sam Euceda-Torres won his third and fourth bouts of the season in the 285-weight class. Euceda-Torres won an 11-2 major decision over Belmont Abbey's Caleb Hovis and won an 8-3 decision over Grayson Starrett.
