Falcons Drop Match to West Florida

PENSACOLA, Fla. – The University of Montevallo volleyball team ends their road trip with a loss against West Florida on Saturday, Nov. 2.

HOW IT HAPPENED
 
Set 1
  • The Falcons opened the match up with a 3-0 with a kill by Nikol Antova and by taking advantage of two Argonaut attack errors.
  • Tied 10-10, Montevallo won the next two points with kills by Brooklyn Hudson and Danielle Greene, both assisted by Blakeley Robbins.
  • Down 15-13, West Florida went on a 9-1 run including taking advantage of six Falcon errors.
  • UM responded with a 4-1 run highlighted by kills from Brooklyn Hudson and Katie Wilkerson.
  • Two errors on UM gave the Argonauts the first set.
  • West Florida won the set despite having four less kills than Montevallo.
 
Set 2
  • West Florida opened up with a 6-1 run highlighted by three kills and three UM attack errors.
  • UWF went on a 10-1 run while up 8-5.
  • The Argonauts kept their foot on the gas with a 7-2 run to close the Falcons in a dominant 25-10 win in the second set.
 
Set 3
  • UWF won the first five out of seven points to start the third set.
  • A kill from Katie Wilkerson ended the run, then started a 3-0 UM run.
  • Two kills and two attack miscues on the Falcons fueled a 4-1 UWF run.
  • An ace by Claire Hayes and kills from Maggie McColley and Nikol Antova tied the set at 10-10.
  • Tied 12-12, the Argonauts went on another momentum swing by taking the next five out of six points.
  • West Florida put away the Falcons with a 7-2 run.

Montevallo will look to get back on track next week as they take on the Christian Brothers Buccaneers on Friday, Nov. 8 inside Central State Bank Arena. First serve set for 6:00 p.m. CT.
