MONTEVALLO, Ala. – The University of Montevallo softball team travels for their first Gulf South Conference road series of the season as they take on Delta State on Friday, Mar. 1 and Saturday, Mar. 2 in Cleveland, Miss.
Last Time Out
The Falcons swept Miles College in two games on Tuesday, Feb. 27. UM put up 20 total runs as they were able to run rule the Golden Bears twice 11-3 and 9-1.

About Montevallo
Hitting
Sophomore
Sydnee Reaves might be the hottest hitter on the planet currently as she is 14 for her last 27 with eight home runs, 18 RBI, 14 runs scored, two triples and four walks. Reaves is second in the Gulf South with eight homers, third with 53 total bases, fourth with 22 RBI and seventh with a .914 slugging percentage.
Kendall Channell comes in as the reigning GSC Freshman of the Week as she has a hit in her last 11 out of 14 games.
Bentlee Stiner has had a nice stretch of games where she has seven RBI in her last five games. As a team, Montevallo is batting .297 and is fifth in the GSC with a .501 slugging percentage and fifth in stolen bases with 30.
Ariana Pinder leads the Falcon with a .431 batting average while she is tied for second with 12 RBI. Pinder continues to set the table for the rest of the line as she has a team leading on base percentage of .500. She is 10
th in the GSC with 22 hits on the season and she is 14
th in batting average.
Pitching
Mya Young put together her best week as a Falcon as she pitched 11 innings, allowed five earned runs, struck out eight batters and only walked three. Young has now lowered her ERA to 4.07 on the year while she is tied for 14
th in the GSC with three wins.
Ariana Pinder tossed a complete game for the Falcons where she allowed no earned runs while she struck out a career-high five batters. Pinder now has an ERA of 1.97.
As a team, the Falcons have the fifth best ERA in the Gulf South Conference at 3.77. They have allowed the third lowest number of free passes in the conference at 43. Montevallo has struck out the fourth most in the GSC with 86 total.
Scouting Delta State
Delta State comes into the weekend with a 2-16 overall record while they own a 1-1 record while on their home field. Most recently, the Lady Statemen dropped both games against No. 18 Pittsburg State on Wednesday, Feb. 28 by scores of 9-4 and 10-7.
Raegan Stafford leads DSU with a .339 average while she has played in and started every game for the Lady Statesmen. Abbi Cataldo has the most homers for DSU with four home runs on the season while she has the most RBI on the team with 10. As a team they have the lowest batting average in the conference at .257, however, they are tied for fifth with Montevallo with 24 doubles.
In the circle, Morgan Grubb has the most innings pitched on the team with 34.1. Grubb has allowed 33 earned runs and has struck out 23 batters with an opponent batting average of .338. Emma Enderud has the most strikeouts of any Lady Statesmen with 35 in 30 innings pitched. Enderud picked up nine strikeouts in 7.1 innings of work against Pittsburgh State on Wednesday.
The Falcons are 8-9 against Delta State all-time but have won the last six out of seven games against DSU. In the regular season series last year, Montevallo took two out of three.
