MONTEVALLO, Ala. – The University of Montevallo men's and women's track and field teams are ready to host the 2024 Falcon Classic and Multi on Friday, Mar. 15 and Saturday, Mar. 16 at the Track and Field/Lacrosse Stadium.
In their last meet, the Falcons posted 13 podium finishes at the Victor Icebreaker Duals. In their first outdoor meet of the season, Montevallo won three events.
Emily Wolf posted a first-place finish in the discus throw where she had a distance of 40.33 meters. Wolf also competed in the hammer throw where she took second with a distance of 44.50 meters and in the shot put with a second-place distance of 12.07 meters.
The Falcons were dominant in the pole vault where
Leah Dendy won the event, clearing a height of 3.41 meters.
Skylar Suggitt was behind her as she placed in second with a height of 3.26 meters. In the men's 4x400 meter relay, the team of
Walter Womack,
Julian Fore,
Amari Lewis and
Tyrone Reese won first-place with a time of 3:22.91.
In the javelin throw,
Elizabeth Hayhurst posted the top finish for the Falcons with a second-place throw of 38.92 meters.
Zane Weeks was third on the men's side with a throw of 50.60 meters.
Last year at the Falcon Classic, Montevallo won second place with 123.5 points. They were 4.5 behind first-place Alabama-Huntsville and were 32.5 ahead of third-place Columbus State and 37.5 ahead of fourth-place Samford.
