Pitching
Montevallo had a great outing from all three pitchers this weekend against one of the top offenses in the country. In game one,
Taylor Lloyd was dominant yet again for the Falcons as she twirled her ninth win of the season in a seven inning, complete game. Lloyd allowed one run and zero walks while she struck out four. For the season, she has 82 innings pitched, a 3.59 ERA, five complete games and has struck out 72 batters.
In game two,
Rachel Whiddon tossed one of her best outings of the season as she went six innings, allowed three earned, walked one and struck out three Choctaws. After the first inning, Whiddon did not allow a single run while she made quick work of the number eight team in the country with only four hits against her the rest of the game.
Mya Young was dominant in her relief outing in game three as she went 3.1 innings with three hits, no runs, one walk and two strike outs. Young had her fifth appearance of the season where she struck out three or more batters.
Scouting North Georgia
The Nighthawks come in to Tuesday game with an eye-popping 28-3 record on the season while they have not lost a game in conference play yet (12-0). They are coming off a series sweep of Georgia Southwestern where they averaged over 10 runs a game. North Georgia's most recent loss came at the hands of GSC foe Auburn Montgomery on Tuesday, Mar. 12, 3-1.
Jolie Lester leads the Nighthawks with a .451 batting average while she has 18 RBI and no home runs. Georgia Blair has the most homers for North Georgia (6) and the most RBI with 31. They have seven batters who have played in 20 or more games with a batting average of .300 or higher. When they get on, they look to take an extra base as they already have 100 stolen base attempts while they have been successful in 87 of them.
In the circle, the Nighthawks have a two-headed monster in Kristen Davis and Tybee Denton, Davis leads the team with an ERA of 1.15 and Denton has the second lowest at 1.30.
