Will Stroud has been named the Gulf South Conference Freshman of the Week while
Emily Wolf was named Freshman and Field Athlete of the Week as announced by the conference office, Wednesday.
Will Stroud competed in the decathlon for the Falcons at the Falcon Classic and Multi on Friday, Mar. 15 and Saturday, Mar. 16. Stroud set seven personal best's and earned a personal best of 4983 points for the decathlon which placed him in fourth. The Columbiana, Alabama native placed first and set PR's in the high jump as he cleared a height of 1.83 meters, in the discus throw with a distance of 32.62 meters and in the pole vault as he cleared a height of 3.70 meters.
Stroud also set personal records in the 400-meter with a time of 54.88, in the 110-meter hurdles with a time of 19.20, the javelin throw with a throw of 34.50 meters and in the 1500-meter with a time of 5:24.33.
Emily Wolf earns her third Gulf South Conference weekly awards as she competed in four events in the Falcon Classic and Multi on Friday, Mar. 15 and Saturday, Mar. 16. Wolf won the shot put with a distance of 12.22 meters and set three personal records in the Falcon Classic. She set a PR in the discus throw with a second-place distance of 41.86 meters. Wolf set her second PR of the day in the hammer throw with a distance of 47.16 meters which placed her in second for that event. She set her final personal record in the javelin throw with a throw of 33.25 meters.
The Falcons are back in action on Friday, Mar. 22 and Saturday, Mar. 23 at the Emory Thrills in the Hill in Atlanta, Ga.
