LOUISVILLE, Ky. – The University of Montevallo softball's Sydnee Reaves has been named to the 2024 Tucci/National Fast Pitch Coaches Association Division II Player & Pitcher of the Year Watchlist.
 
The complete watchlist named 115 players from across the eight NCAA regions with up to 15 student-athletes named for each region.
 
The sophomore from Ashland, Alabama is one of eight Gulf South Conference players on the list. Reaves leads the Falcons with a batting average of .394, an OPS of 1.393, 39 hits, 31 runs, four triples, 12 home runs, 40 RBI, a slugging percentage of .919 and an on base percentage of .474. The Falcons center fielder is tied for fifth in the GSC in home runs and RBI and fourth in slugging percentage.
 
Voted on by the NFCA's Division II All-American Committee, the 2024 Tucci/NFCA Player and Pitcher of the Year winners will be announced on May 27 following the conclusion of the NCAA Division II National Championships. The Player of the Year award was created in 2015 to honor the outstanding athletic achievements among softball student-athletes throughout NCAA Division II. In 2019, the Association expanded the award to include a Player and Pitcher of the Year.
 
Reaves and the rest of the Falcons are back in action Friday, Mar. 29 at 3:00 p.m. as they take on Valdosta State at Orr Park in Montevallo, Ala.
