MONTEVALLO, Ala. – The University of Montevallo softball team heads to Jackson, TN. for their final GSC road series of the regular season on Friday, Apr. 19 and Saturday, Apr. 20.

The Falcons are coming of taking both ends of the double-header against Miles College on Tuesday, Apr. 16. The Montevallo pitching staff only allowed one hit on the day as
Taylor Lloyd fired the second no-hitter in program history and struck out 10 batters, while
Mya Young twirled a shutout where she only allowed one hit with two strikeouts.
Molly Pendley had four hits in the day with two doubles, a home run and six RBI.

Hitting
The Falcons scored 20 runs on 24 hits in their double-header against Miles on Tuesday.
Molly Pendley is heating up at the right time for the Falcons as she has nine hits in her last nine games including three games with two hits. In that stretch, Pendley has 10 RBI, four home runs, eight runs scored and three doubles. The Cullman, Ala. native now has the second most homers on the team with nine and has the fourth most runs driven in with 31.
Bentlee Stiner has been a huge run producer in the month of April as she has 13 hits and 13 RBI. Stiner has five multi-hit games in her last eight games including a 4-for-4 effort and four two hit games. The sophomore from Chattanooga, TN. has added three homers, nine runs scored and two doubles.
Lily Stone has eight hits in her last six games and she has driven home six RBI during that span. Stone has also added three doubles and has scored four runs.
As a team, the Falcons are back over the .300 mark with a .303 average which is eighth in the Gulf South Conference while they have the seventh most amount of hits with 348. Montevallo excels in extra base hits as they are tied for fifth with 62 doubles, tied for first with 15 triples and have an even 50 homers this season. The team is 13 runs away from 300 runs scored on the year.
Pitching
The pitching staff was on fire in both games against Miles as they combined for 12 scoreless innings and 13 strikeouts while they only surrendered one hit.
Taylor Lloyd threw a second no-hitter in program history and had her third game this season with 10 strikeouts. Lloyd's career season continues as she is one win away from the single-season record for win as she is tied for first with 13. The sophomore is 36 strikeouts away from the single-season record and she is currently sixth in the GSC with 125.
Mya Young had her best outing as a Falcon as she tied a career-high of six innings against Miles with two strikeouts. Young allowed only one hit and one walk in the game. The Paxton, Fla. native has 12 outings where she has allowed one or no walks.
Rachel Whiddon came in relief of Young and pitched the final inning in game two against Miles. Whiddon slammed the door and allowed no runs, hits or walks while she picked up her 36
th strikeout of the season. In the outing, she pitched her 60
th inning of the season.
Scouting Union
The Bulldogs come in with a 25-18 overall record in the season and are tied with Montevallo with a 13-11 GSC record. Union has won their last three games and won their previous GSC series against Lee. They dropped the first game as they fell to the Flames in extras but won both ends of the double-header 11-10 in nine innings and 4-3 in eight innings.
Union is powered by one of if not the best pitching staff in the Gulf South with a 3.10 team ERA and they hold opponents to a low batting average of .230. Lainey Baker is the top arm for the Bulldogs as she has a GSC leading 2.41 ERA with 107.1 innings pitched. Baker is a strikeout artist with the most punch outs in the conference with 152 and the sophomore has seven games with 11 or more strikeouts all of which against seven different GSC opponents. Baker has an outstanding 1.01 WHIP and holds batters to a .204 average.
Offensively, Union scores over four runs a game and is led by Macey Neal who owns a .412 batting average through 148 at bats and has knocked nine homers and 47 RBI on the season. As a team, the Bulldogs are batting .295 for 10
th in the conference and draw the least number of walks in the GSC with 82 free passes this season. UU has the second lowest number of stolen bases in the conference with 47.
Historically, Montevallo is 12-5 against Union. The Falcons defeated Union is the GSC tournament last season 8-0 and won the regular season series against the Bulldogs 2-1. On the road against UU, Montevallo is 3-3.
