MONTEVALLO, Ala. – The University of Montevallo men's and women's track and field teams continues their momentum into day two of the Gulf South Conference Championship meet on Friday, May 3, in Montevallo, Ala.
In the track events,
Walter Womack placed second in the 1500-meter portion of the decathlon with a time of 4:55.37. Womack also qualified for finals in the 100-meter with a time of 10.83.
Amari Lewis joins Womack tomorrow as he notched a personal best time of 10.77 in the 100-meter which was the fifth fastest time. Eran Foye and
Tyrone Reese both qualified for the finals in the 110-meter hurdles as they both came in with personal best times of 15.30 and 15.22, respectively.
Natalie Warner recorded a PR in the 5K with a time of 18:23.15.
The Falcons had a successful day in the field events as Nate Boleware finished in third for the decathlon with 5783 points.
Will Stroud and Boleware placed inside the top four in the discus with throws of 30.51 and 28.93 meters. In the dec pole vault, Stroud and
David Vick tied for third with a height of 3.40 meters. Boleware hit a season best in the javelin with a throw of 42.60 meters which placed him in fourth for the event.
In the hep long jump,
Kylie Carroll earned a second-place finish as she cleared a height of 5.40 meters.
Caleb Kariuki hit a NCAA Provo mark of 7.09 meters in the long jump. The mark for Kariuki is also a season best.
Zauren Burton earned a podium finish in the high jump with a second-place mark of 1.60 meters.
Preston Bennett notched a PR in the discus with a distance of 45.61 meters. Bennett would place fifth for the event. Also, in the discus,
Emily Wolf placed in third with a distance of 41.02 meters.
Corey Perkins cleared a personal best height of 1.87 meters in the high jump for a sixth-place finish.
The Falcons will come back tomorrow, Saturday, May 4, for the final day of the GSC Outdoor Championships in Montevallo, Ala.
