MONTEVALLO, Ala. – The University of Montevallo volleyball team opens up Gulf South Conference play with a sweep of West Alabama on Tuesday, Sept. 24 in Central State Bank Arena.

HOW IT HAPPENED
Set 1
- With the home crowd rockin', the Falcons jumped to a 6-1 lead highlighted by kills from Brooklyn Hudson and Nikol Antova.
- West Alabama came back with a 5-2 run.
- Montevallo went on a 11-2 run as Maggie McColley collected two kills. In the run, UWA committed eight errors.
- After taking three consecutive points, West Alabama committed a service error to give the Falcons set one.
Set 2
- Like the first set, West Alabama committed multiple errors that contributed to a Falcon run to start the set.
- Montevallo executed a 6-0 run with kills by Hudson, McColley and Greene. Blakeley Robbins added two aces in the run.
- More errors plagued the Tigers as the final four out of five points scored for UM were West Alabama errors.
Set 3
- West Alabama showed fight as they took a 5-2 lead in the third set with three kills and two UM miscues.
- The Falcons went on an 8-0 run started with a kill by Aliyah Thompson. Colton Thompson followed up with two aces, then Katie Wilkerson converted on three terminations.
- Although West Alabama had their highest kill total, Montevallo was too much for the Tigers as they closed the match out with a kill from Kalin Duncan and Nikol Antova, then Grace Petro finished it off with two consecutive aces.

After their four-match home stand, Montevallo will take to the road for their first GSC road matches of the 2024 season as they take on Trevecca Nazarene on Friday, Sept. 27 and Lee on Saturday, Sept. 28.
