GAME NOTES
- Nikol Antova recorded her second double-double of the season with 16 kills and a career-high 16 digs.
- Claire Hayes had her second double-digit kill match of the season with 10 kills. She had a hitting percentage of .421.
- Colton Thompson had 25 assists while she added seven digs and two kills.
- Ava Wind had her third most digs in a match this season with 20.
- Trevecca Nazarene picks up the victory regardless of having less aces, assists and digs.
HOW IT HAPPENED
Set 1
- Staked to an early 6-5 lead, Montevallo took the next seven consecutive points to force a TNU timeout. In the run, Nikol Antova and Danielle Greene had two kills each. Blakeley Robbins served an ace in the run.
- Out of the timeout, the Trojans responded with a 7-0 run of their own.
- Two kills from Greene, assisted by Robbins gave the momentum back to the Falcons.
- Up 16-14, Montevallo picked up three straight points on three straight Trojan errors.
- Trevecca Nazarene mounted a steady comeback and final took the lead with a 5-0 run consisting of four kills and an ace.
- After a kill from Aliyah Thompson, TNU took the set with two kills.
Set 2
- Down 3-5, UM took a 6-1.
- A steady back-and-fourth set saw the Falcons taking a 17-15 advantage.
- Montevallo got some separation with a 5-0 run consisting of kills from Brooklyn Hudson and Claire Hayes and an ace by Eliza Tyrrell.
- TNU won the next three points.
- The Falcons closed out the set with a block by Colton Thompson and Danielle Greene.
- UM had their highest hitting percentage of the night in this set at .151.
Set 3
- An absolute battle of a set saw both teams exchanging blow for blow at 15-15.
- Trevecca tried to pull away by taking the next three points, but Montevallo fought back by taking the next four out of five points with two kills from Claire Hayes and Aliyah Thompson.
- Both teams had two-point swings to tie it at 21-21.
- After a UM and TNU exchanged service errors, a kill by Antova from Ava Wind put the Falcons back on top.
- The Trojans took the next two points for a 24-23 advantage.
- Two kills and two assists from Nikol Antova from Colton Thompson kept it tied through 25-25.
- Montevallo gained the advantage after a dump off kill by Colton Thompson and an attack error on the Trojans.
- Trevecca gained the lead with a kill and a Falcon miscue.
- After a kill by Antova, TNU took yet another lead at 29-28.
- The Falcons refused to quit by taking the next two points on an attack error by the Trojans and a Claire Hayes block.
- UM took another advantage at 32-31 but TNU stormed back with three straight points to take the set.
- There was a total of 21 lead changes in this set.
Set 4
- The final set proved fatal to the Falcons as they were out-hit -.143 to .316.
- UM had 10 errors in the set compared to the Trojans two.
- Trevecca closed out the Falcons with a 6-0 run.
